Don’t have perfect English spelling? Don’t remember which tense to use? Don’t you worry!
‘Write On’ is an international writing competition organized by Peace Corps that values writers’ creativity and cohesiveness over technical accuracy and grammatical fluency in the English language. During the competition, writers have one hour to write a story based on one of two given grade-specific prompts.

In Dilijan Central School, middle school writers participated in creative writing workshops lead by Nork Zakarian, where they learned to:
– discuss & analyze stories
– constructively criticize & evaluate each others’ works
– brainstorm ideas
– think freely & creatively
– develop writing styles & story plans
Over the course of the past three years Dilijan Central School has had multiple first-place winners on the national level (Ayah Rachidi, Hayk Khachikyan, Lilit Mehrabyan in 2017) and international level (Ayah Rachidi – 2018).
This year was no exception!
Thus, we are proud to announce our 2019 ‘Write On Armenia’ winners:
1st Place – Angela Matevosyan (grade 7)
2nd place – Ashkhen Saratikyan (grade 8)
2nd place – Lily Grigoryan (grade 9)

Congratulations for your achievement!
Yet on the whole, it is absolutely important to congratulate all writers who have participated in this competition nationally and internationally. While there may be ranks and winners, judging stories (unlike sports) is purely subjective. This is precisely why a library has thousands of different books; not everyone appreciates the same book or has the same taste. If your story wasn’t among the winners of this competition, it only means that it still hasn’t found the readers who admire it. So keep your heads up, gazing at the endless horizon of ideas, and write on…
